The beauty in Stories.

I have grown to appreciate the beauty stories carry. I take pride in being an African woman. Africa has been blessed by the richest heritage of stories. Stories have always been with us. Our fore father's told stories around the fire places and during a number of  gatherings. Story telling is all they ever knew, it was the easiest way of communicating. These stories moulded us, they contributed to our personal growth, they made us ponder about life. oh how those days were beautiful! Sitting under the moon light,  listening to stories and sipping the best of African tea our grand mother's made from all those local leaves.

I still remember my early days in elementary school, the memories of my social studies teacher are still vivid as she spoke about the first man in Buganda, he was called "Kintu" and had one cow . The story of early man and how he ate honey, insects, wild fruits  and raw meat up to when he discovered fire.  To some of us, these stories created lots of enthusiasm, we always looked forward to yet another class and listen to more beautiful stories.

From those classes, I pick one greatest lesson, our stories are what you and I will ever own, it's what we will ever have, the best we can do is to tell it, because no one will ever tell it for you. Life would be a much better place if we appreciated the power our stories carry. They have the ability to ignite a fire within us to be the best version of ourselves, to unite and transform a life.  How about we all just started believing in the beauty of our stories. We are our own inspiration.
